As you already know, I’m a makeup artist and I also specialize in destination weddings which means I get to travel the world all whilst doing what I love! From now on I’m going to start sharing photos and my experience from these destination weddings. So lets start with Goa!
I was booked by a British Indian Bride; Aman who was getting married at The Leela in Goa. When I get booked for destination weddings I always extend my trip for a few days so that once I’m done with the makeup bookings I can relax and enjoy the surroundings with my husband (my husband travels to all destination weddings with me).
As well as the Bride, her mother, sister and mother in law also booked me for makeup during the trip so it was pretty full on. I only took pictures of the Bride – hopefully you like the makeup!
For the main wedding day I went for a flawless base with deep Red lips and subtle smokey lash line. I wanted to keep the eyes striking yet not harsh as I think it went better with the beautiful outfit she wore. Her hair was slicked back into a low chignon so that her intricate jewellery could be on show. Wearing Red lips can sometimes make the face appear whiter so I warmed her up with some matte bronzer and I didn’t use too much highlighter for this. I’ll do a full product breakdown on my Instagram soon.
For her Cocktail party event I wanted to go glamorous with a sophisticated and chic look (below). I curled her hair and brushed it out to give her Hollywood waves with a tonne of backcombing for volume! I went for a super smokey eye makeup look with my favorite glitter on the lids – Stila Magnificent Metals in Bronzed Bell. I used my Mink Lashes in ‘Savanna’ on her for added volume. (You can buy my lashes at Bloomingdales in The Dubai Mall and 360 Mall in Kuwait, Harvey Nichols in Mall Of The Emirates, Ounass and for worldwide deliveries from www.ninaubhi.com. I focused on glowing skin by using Becca Cosmetics pressed highlighter in Opal. Again, I’ll do a product breakdown on my instagram soon.
Ok so lets get to how Goa was! I have been to Goa before when I was much younger with my family but I don’t remember much of it. We were greeted with beautiful flowers and a Red tikka bindi which is how they welcome guests into their home. Goa was beautiful and The Leela was just stunning! It’s definitely a place I’d recommend for destination weddings. It was so peaceful and serine. So much greenery was a breath of fresh air as in Dubai it’s more Beige than Green! We didn’t really venture out of the hotel because I was so shattered from the early morning bookings and to be fair we just needed a few days to relax and unwind.
The beach in Goa was so beautiful! Very clean and the sand was..well..just proper sand! You will understand what I mean if you live in Dubai! The food was delicious but then I love Indian food so it was nice to have authentic dishes made by the pro’s. Thankfully there were no bugs as such – I saw one gecko on the last night but I wasn’t too fussed as it was in the reception area and not my room!
The interior of the hotel was stunning – beautiful sculptures that signified Indian culture and gods. This is a place where you truly can unwind and switch off!
