I finally had the chance to try the Huda Beauty Faux Filter Foundation! I know it’s been out a while and my review is a little late considering but everytime I went to buy this foundation there were so many sold out that I couldn’t even test to see which was my shade. Since then I was lucky enough to be invited onto the Huda Beauty press list so I get the new products sent to me. I wasn’t sure which shade I was but guess a bunch of them based on swatches I saw online.
I received the following shades which you can see swatches of on my arm above (starting from top to bottom):
- Brown Sugar
- Tres Leches
Packaging – The packaging is lightweight and I think it’s made out of plastic which to be honest I prefer. It’s easy to travel with and doesn’t leak and not prone to breakage due to the durability. I travelled recently and didn’t have any problems.
Shades – Based on the three shades I received I’m super impressed. Usually with foundations (from big beauty brands) I always find theres either a Pink undertone in majority of the shades or they are too Orange or Grey. The Huda Beauty range has shades that almost feel like they’ve tested on that particular skin color. There isn’t a pattern of undertones you see in all shades which is great because not everyone has the same undertone. I personally mix two shades together; Tres Leches and Brown Sugar. I love the color it creates and it may be that there is a specific Faux Filter Foundation shade for me that I haven’t tried but out of the ones that were sent that’s what I have to mix to create my shade.
Texture – It’s a liquid that isn’t too fluid but very smooth. There is a distinctive scent to it which I’ve found to be in the Easy Bake Setting Powder and Primer. It’s a nice scent so it doesn’t really bother me. One pump is more than enough for the entire face. It glides on effortlessly.
Coverage – The coverage is so good! What I like about it is that it can be easily layered if you want a full coverage look. If you want a natural finish then I would suggest using no concealer and only using the foundation with a damp beauty blender. You need to ensure your face is well moisturized underneath as with any full coverage foundation I feel you should create a good base before applying.
12 Hour wear – I attended a family wedding recently so had quite a few events to attend within a week. I decided to put this foundation to the test and I’m very impressed. It lasted over 12 hours and still looked flawless. There was no oxidation and it actually gave me more of a glow near the end of the night rather than looking oily.
Final thoughts – All in all I love this foundation. I was a bit skeptical at first as I thought it may just be hype but this foundation has firmly made it’s mark in my personal makeup kit. It’s claimed that this Faux Filter Foundation gives you that airbrushed and filtered look that we usually use apps for – I can honestly say it does give you a flawless finish. If I were to rank this amongst Fenty Pro Filt’r I’d say Huda Beauty Faux Filter Foundation wins hands down in every aspect.
